Office Building

At its peak, the mine at Winterslag employed 6,350 people. The mining company was run by an executive whose job title was ‘directeur-gerant’ (‘director manager’). He was responsible for the proper functioning of the company, and could count on the services of various engineers, top managers and office workers to handle the administration.

The main offices of the mine management and the offices of the administration were built in neo-Flemish Renaissance style, underlining the grandeur the mine sought to project.
